The day started with yet another early wake up for the boys teams and a lovely lie in for the girls team. Luckily spirits were high and before long we were on the road. The 1XI had a long journey to Dharmapala College which is the largest mixed school in South Asia, with 5000 pupils! While the 2XI had a slightly shorter drive to St Sebastian College. Both teams won the toss electing to bat first, both teams got off to good starts; Hector Higgins and Will Cecil got the 1XI off to a flyer leaving us 43-0 off 3 overs while Jonny Spencer’s calm knock 42 (47) set up the 2XI’s inning’s nicely. The 1XI kept ticking along in tough conditions finishing on 263 all out, with stand out performance from Ed Adnitt 48 (61) and Alex Corbett 50 (41). The 2XI had a more frantic innings loosing regular wickets however, strong hitting from Ben Ferret 41 (30) allowed them to finish on 187 all out. Then came bowling for both sides, and again both XI’s got off to strong starts with Tino Mutekwa taking a wicket with the first ball of the innings and getting another in the next over for the 1XI. While Henry Myers and Pasca Mutekwa took 4 wickets between them in the opening 10 overs for the 2XI. Teddies continued to pick up wickets at consistent intervals with both teams bowling the opposition out. Resulting in both teams walking away with a victory.
In the afternoon the girls had their game and like the other two teams they ended up batting first. The girls pulled together well with a slightly different batting order to normal and ended on 136-5 off their 20 overs with the standout being Aimee Diab 58 (39). The girls then went out to defend their competitor total in the early evening sun. All bowlers showed a great account of themselves in a very close game and they were able to come out on top after a great last over from Suri Shah. So three wins from three and a great day for teddies cricket.
